Manchester United captain Nemanja Vidic admitted his side’s title hopes were fading after losing to Chelsea this afternoon.
Arsenal, the leaders of the standings, are now 14 points ahead of United. The defender believes that the gap is big for the Red Devils.
“We are too far behind and now we have to focus on the top three or four.
“We have to be positive, we didn’t play a bad game today. They made three shots and scored three goals and that’s the difference in the game, we were punished for every mistake we made.
“It’s not going to be easy, you have to action now to get to the Champions League. We have to keep a positive attitude, stick together and work hard. With any luck, I hope we can make it.”
United have struggled recently in terms of performance and wins, they have failed many times and didn’t play like a team that won the Premier League last season. David Moyes as Alex Ferguson’s successor didn’t quite go to plan, they seem to miss the cutting edge they had last season.
Nemanja Vidic defended the manager and simply believes that the players are not playing well enough, he refused to blame David Moyes.
He said: “You can’t always talk about coaches, the players are tired of talking about that because the coach is trying to do the best he can. Tactically, we did well today.”
The Serbian defender was disappointed with the decision, which led to him being sent off after a foul on Chelsea-Eden harmful, meaning Vidic will miss Sunderland’s Capital One Cup semi-final match again on Wednesday.
The Serbian defender was upset by the decision to take him off the pitch for a foul on Eden harmful at the end of the match at Stamford Bridge. The red card means Vidic will be ruled out of the Capital One Cup semi-final against Sunderland on Wednesday.
“My feeling is that it was very difficult because I received the ball. harmful, we know, is a sharp player and he just pushed the ball,” he added.
